What are some summer experiences to look into that AREN'T research related? Something that is full time...not just volunteering and shadowing.

I'm interested in public health or nonprofits, any advice on where to start/look? Or other ideas?

Thanks!

Can you volunteer full time...?
I don't think any non-profits offer paid internships. Non-profits in general tend to depend on unpaid volunteers.
You could do public health research, or some sort of community engagement/outreach/education internship.
But the sky's the limit - just follow your interests!

Find a non-profit you are interested in and see if they have/ if you can convince them to accept you into a full-time internship. Depending on how badly you want the position/how bad their need, you might be able to get paid, but it depends on the organization.

Do something kids related like summer camp. Preferably with disabled or homeless kids since you'll probably find that more interesting to talk about (health disparities and whatnot).

full time bed/mattress comfort level testing!!!

i think working with kids might be nice - something like health ed?

The government has summer internships that are full time but unpaid. You work in the area you want and it can be domestic or abroad with the consulates.
If you are studying a language that's not Spanish french or italian there are also critical language scholarships for a full summer
As for public health all of the ones I know of is research based like they give you a project to work on. I believe these are abroad. You can always do camp or summer school counseling.

Not all volunteering needs to be in a hospital. Think hospice, Planned Parenthood, nursing homes, rehab facilities, crisis hotlines, camps for sick children, or clinics. Check out your local houses of worship for volunteer opportunities.

Service need not be "unique". If you can alleviate suffering in your community through service to the poor, homeless, illiterate, fatherless, etc, you are meeting an otherwise unmet need and learning more about the lives of the people (or types of people) who will someday be your patients.

Examples include: Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, crisis hotlines, soup kitchen, food pantry, homeless or women’s shelter, after-school tutoring for students or coaching a sport in a poor school district, teaching ESL to adults at a community center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, or Meals on Wheels.
