Under the transcripts section on PharmCAS it advises us to

"Arrange for all of your official transcripts to be sent to PharmCAS as soon as you have completed your summer 2007 coursework and your summer term grades are available"

Does this mean that if I submit my official transcripts right now, I will have to submit my transcripts again once my summer grades are available? If so, does this also mean that PharmCAS will update my GPA upon receiving the summer transcripts?

OR does this mean that I should wait until my summer grades are available and submit it all once..But the drawback in this case is that I'll be submitting my application much later.

The reason I ask is that I read a previous thread stating that summer grades cannot be added into the GPA until the December update window. But it seems as if the PharmCAS website is saying otherwise... I know my question may be confusing but any help is appreciated!

You can send in as many transcripts as you want as long as you haven't e-submitted your application because once you've submitted it, you have to wait for the window to update your transcripts and that is sometimes after fall term.

So make sure everything is correct and the way you want it before you hit that submit button.

If you want to submit your application after your summer grades come out.. You can arrange for your school to send out your transcripts as soon as they become available (the "rush" option-- usually costs a little more). But the drawback is that you'll be waiting to e-submit until PharmCas receives it. In my case, that would have been around the end of August. If you're willing to wait and if you think it will help your chances significantly, go that route.

If not.. I'd say just to e-submit now or as soon as possible. Then you'll have to update your grades during the academic update period. I believe that begins Dec 14th.. Something like that. You'll have to send in your transcripts for summer & fall grades as soon as they come out.

It's really up to you. If you're applying to schools with rolling admissions or with deadlines nearing soon, I'd say just to submit now.

Unless you think that your summer courses will boost up your GPA above the school minimum and/or drastically, then you mind as well submit your PharmCAS application now.

Besides, that sentence you quoted comes from the Academic Update instructions on PharmCAS. So, even PharmCAS suggests that you wait until the Academic Update period to send your summer transcripts:😉

PharmCAS said:
UPDATING YOUR COURSEWORK -- ACADEMIC UPDATE

After you initially submit your PharmCAS application, you may need to update your college course history to reflect newly completed or planned / in-progress courses. You can update your courses on-line during the PharmCAS "Academic Update" window. The Academic Update window will open on December 14, 2007, following the completion of the fall 2007 term, and close on February 1, 2008. Arrange for your official summer 2007 and fall 2007 transcripts to be sent directly to PharmCAS AS SOON AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE. If you do not submit your updated courses and transcripts in a timely manner, your selected pharmacy schools may no longer consider you for admission.

I actually pulled that quote from the Transcripts link on the PharmCAS website under the section "SUMMER 2007 TRANSCRIPTS" and not the Academic update section of PharmCAS. I guess that is what confused me.

Ok, so from my understanding from the previous post, I can submit as many transcripts as I want up until I e-submit my application? But does this mean that the GPA will constantly update as I send in newer transcrips as long as I do not e-submit?

Yes, but the schools won't be able to see your GPA if you don't e-submit it. You want to e-submit your application as soon as you are done because schools do like students that apply early. But it won't help much if your GPA right now is low and your summer grade could boost it up really high. If your summer grade won't really affect the GPA factor, I recommend that you just e-submit your application as soon as possible.

I'm in the same boat...

Here's my details (in chronological order):
1) Posting to transcript on 8/31 -- French, 2.5 semester units, A.
2) Posting to transcript on 9/9 -- Speech communications (A most likely), and Calculus (a retake of a previous C- grade).
3) Letters of recommendation should be in by September 15-30th
4) October 20 -- PCAT administration
5) Fall semester courses posting by December -- Microbiology & Anatomy

==================
All other course work is complete and on transcripts, which are on their way to PharmCAS as I type this.

a) Is it to my advantage to e-submit the application as soon as my existing transcripts are in and wait until December to update items #1 and #2? I'm on the fence due to the calculus retake issue.

b) Should I wait until items #1, #2, (and maybe even #3) are in before e-submitting?

I'm applying to rolling schools (UH Hilo, USC, and Western) just as an FYI. Thanks in advance 👍

Pharmcas will update your file as new LORs come in, so I wouldnt wait to esubmit on those. You will still be early in September if you wait on that Calculus grade, which if I were you I would want the retake in there so it would be seen by the schools. However if that calculus grade is your only C then I wouldnt stress at all and esubmit now. It really depends on your current GPA and how much these few classes are going to effect it. I didn't apply to California schools however I know they are very competitive and the earlier the better so perhaps someone that applied to those schools can give you some better insight.
