Hello,

I have to take a class that is required by my major and it is only offered over the summer. I'm currently a junior so I can take it either this summer or the summer after senior year. I already have an internship for this summer and so I would be taking the class the summer after my senior year thereby pushing back my graduation date. Although the class is only a month long (Maymester), my official graduation date will still be at the end of the summer. I'd still be able to start medical school at the same time as everyone else and I'd still be applying at the same time as everyone else. I'm just wondering if the summer graduation date will affect the admission decision.

Thanks for all your advice.

I don't think it will negatively affect anything. Lots of people take a pre req the summer prior to matriculation.

Good Luck!

What did the fish say when it ran into the wall???..... Damn!

thanks...i'm not sure why my premed advisor said that delaying graduation would be a problem.

There's no issue here. I guess the only question would be if you somehow failed the class and subsequently couldn't graduate. However, if you have the stats to get into medical school I don't think adcoms will be worried about this. Regardless, it doesn't sound like there is anyway you can change the situation so you might as well stop worrying about it!
