Just a note on summer enrichment programs. Make sure you really explore the program you're going to apply to (not that you wouldn't, but you know what I mean). I did one for a summer that promised lots of shadowing experiences, an MCAT course, and premed counseling. Instead, it was an utterly insulting two months where we were taught physics at an ungodly pace by a grad student who could hardly speak english, got to spend a couple of hours one afternoon shadowing a doctor, spent a day in a lab designed for high school students, doing (no joke) DNA electrophoresis with FAKE DNA (something that we had ALL done in our undergrad labs a combined 14 billion times by then), and were constantly harrassed by the program director in classes meant to teach us skills that we weren't otherwise exposed to since we were "minorities" (which included, again, no joke, learning how to speak numbers (one hundred AND three instead of one hundred three) and learning how to read maps). Bottom line, it was a huge waste of time, and would have been much better spent in a rigorous research program, even though I, like you, hate research. Worst part was, I loved this particular medical school before I did this program. But it left a very sour taste in my mouth (not to mention a couple of rather uncomfortable questions in my interview at this particular school this past September...). So yeah, my advice, try to track down former students of the programs you'd like to try, and if they aren't completely excited about the program, do research. It's boring as hell, but it's paid, and it's great experience to have, whatever you choose to do.
