I am a freshman biology major, and was wondering about summer internships. Do they have any for people my age/education level?

I've seen some for juniors/seniors, but not for freshman.

I'm looking for preferably a research internship.

I performed research in the summer as a freshman and sophomore at my undergraduate institution. Build up a nice resume now in your first two years if you can. I ended up landing an awesome internship with NASA in a bioscience program my last two years due to my experiences from my first two.

Check out the NIH too, I think they may offer internships for younger undergrads also.

And it was a government job, need I say more haha.

Try looking at REUs as well. I think many of them are geared towards people who haven't had a ton of research experience... some of them won't take freshmen, but some of them do!
Also, apply to a lot of them... I almost didn't apply to the program I actually got into because I thought I didn't have a chance in hell as a freshman.
But also, if you can't get into a program, try and do research at your university, so, like nasa123 said, you can get a great internship when you're older 🙂
good luck!!

Also check you undergrad school if they have what is called a co-op program where they would match students with employers or research labs looking for interns. Often these employers run their internships directly through the university/college instead of openly posting the positions. :luck::xf:

I'm also a freshmen with no experience. I sent out about 5 emails to professors at my university and already I have 3 interviews when I return to school. For the summer I just went on the websites of the hospitals in my area looked at what research was going on there and emails the doctors whos research I was interested in. Have a few inerviews for summer positions already. Just be proactive and you can do anything you want. I have 5 interviews with no experience.

What program did you do with NASA? I did the USRP one last year and LOVED it!
