HI, is anyone going to NYCPM's summer pre-matriculation. I am planning to attend but i don't know where to live. DRAPER????? or ParkChester????? the good think about drapper i found out is that there will be a free shuttle to take you to the clinic. Living in parkchester would require traveling by subway to NYCPM which would be costly.

Anyone been to the program before. how is it? WHat classes will they be offering? is it worth the money????
Also, do i need to purchase any books for the program??????

this is what I found out so far

The Summer Pre-Matriculation program is an invaluable opportunity to gain more knowledge in the medical sciences and exposure to a specialized medical profession such as podiatric medicine.

In case you are not familiar with our program, let me take a moment to explain the details:

The program, which takes place from July 7, 2008through August 15, 2008, consists of three parts:

  • Participants take a combination of three courses from the Pre-Clinical Sciences curriculum at NYCPM. Eg: Biochemistry, Histology, Physiology, Anatomy, or Genetics
  • Students are exposed to podiatric medicine, clinical procedures, and patient care by shadowing in our clinic, The Foot Clinics of New York.
  • Students learn reading comprehension, time management, and note taking skills, designed specifically to prepare them for medical school.

Current undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 80 credit hours with no previous applications to a podiatry school can apply for tuition exemption. Tuition exemptions will be approved based on the student's academic achievements as well as their demonstrated motivation to pursue a medical profession.

ANY INFO about the program would be greatly appreciated.
