Hi Everyone!

I just finished my freshman year as a pre-dental student and I am looking for some pre-dental programs for the next summer ( 2015 ) but I think it will be the same as for (2014). I am already doing research at my school and I'm in love with my work, my lab and my mentor and I am planning to stay there as long as I can, so I am not looking for any research programs. I am looking for something as SMDEP (shadowing, have a sense of an actual work) for the next summer 2015 which will be after my sophomore year. I want to get into a really cool program, preferably 3 weeks and longer. Any suggestions ?
P.S I am from New York

I did SMDEP at Rugters (Jersey). Best program. Don't know any other ones.

Once you are ready to apply/take DAT you should do the Profile for Success program located at the University of Michigan. It is an awesome program. They pay for the kaplan course too. Also, I believe they have a pipeline program for sophomores.

It might sound like an odd route but try cold calling (or emailing) dental offices in your area for an unpaid internship. I got a position with a dentist I've never met before doing wax-ups/pouring models/doing lab work in a dental office. It helps them out, helps you out, and looks great when you apply (plus I'm getting school credit for it). I've learned more about dentistry by simply being in the office and asking questions than I ever will from shadowing and it's sparked a passion for dentistry in me.

I even had a second response from another dentist willing to work with me, but I had already accepted the first position.
