Hi All,
Need some advice. I’m a graduating senior who registered for more credit hours than was recommended. I ended up withdrawing from my second semester Physics II course & lab. I needed the remaining classes to be able to graduate on time. My premed advisor said it looks horrible for me to get the W and then take second semester physics at a lesser and easier institution. I have taken ALL other premed prerequisite classes at my home institution with a challenging course load and done well-mostly A’s.
To complete my remaining physics II prerequisite, should I travel to some place like Boston and take it at a equally competitive university like Boston University? Or is it ok to do take Physics II at a closer institution-Univeristy of Rhode Island, which according to my advisor is not as rigorous as the institution I’m graduating from. I don’t want adcoms to think I was trying to take the easy ways out because I was not!
Thanks!
A curious premed.

Previously,

Don't you still have a 3.8+ GPA?

It's one class taken after you graduated. You could take it online for all we know (as long as it's from an accredited institution like UNE). Ask schools where you intend to apply if they care.

I disagree with your advisor. Withdrawing from a single class and taking it at another institution is not a big deal. I would have a different opinion if it looked like you were trying to pad your GPA by taking a number of prereqs at an easier institution.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The main concern was that it was a prerequisite. However, I agree with you since all my remaining courses were taken at my home institution.

Any opinion on if I should take this final physics 2 prerequisite over the summer at a lower ranked ( but closer and cheaper) accredited 4 year institution. Or I should try to take it at a higher ranked institution? I’ve reached out to some medical schools but haven’t heard back.

IMO, I don't think it matters once you graduate. It matters if your choice prevents you from graduating.
