I am getting ready to apply to medical schools (Phase I) this summer, hopefully by June 10. I am also planning to take a trip out of the country to do some research. I would like to know how long it takes for schools to respond back to me regarding the secondary applications (if I get any that is). Would really appreciate some feedback before I book my tickets.

The time it takes really varies from school to school and applicant to applicant. look through some blogs or mdapplicants profiles to see some examples. But the important thing is, most secondaries are online, and the notification is via e-mail. So if you would have regular internet access abroad, then it shouldn't be a problem. If you really need to be back at home to complete secondaries, don't worry about when they come, but when they'll be due. october to december is typical for due dates. So if you give yourself a few weeks before school starts to complete the secondaries that arrived and do the other secondaries as they come, you should be in good shape.
good luck with getting your amcas in early and with the whole process!
