Summer programs and basic questions

Hi I'm a psych major (undergrad).

I'm not really interested in a MD, but I'm probably going for a PhD.
Some questions:

1. What are some good summer programs for psych majors?
2. is a Master's degree necessary for a phD?
3. Should I pile on 4000 level courses at my college? Most don't have a lot of prereqs so I can technically take them but I'm wary of the fact that they are 4000 level courses.

Anything I should know in general? Also, is there another forum that psych majors should take a look at?
