hi all-

i'm hoping to hear from med students but i guess that's a long shot since most are probably studying for their last set of exams and not reading SDN but anyway..... here's my question:

did anyone participate in their school's summer enrichment program? i know a few schools offer these get-your-feet-wet type deals during the summer before first year (usually about six weeks and not counted towards your GPA). i'm wondering if it's worth it. i've been out of school for a year, working full time and it's really driving me nutty. i could still do my school's program and have three soild weeks of vacation time (instead of six weeks). anyone found it worth while?

thanks!!
wendy

I know of a few students that did one of those early start programs in the summer and found it highly valuable. A few of them took some of the exams and realized that they were grossly underestimating medical school and when the real classes started, they had their stuff together. Not to mention that when you get into the anatomy lab you are light years ahead of everyone. I would personally recommend doing it
