How much weight do summer medical/research programs place on GPA. I had a rough second semester GPA wise (going to be ~3.5) while my first semester was a 4.0 and I plan on a 4.0 first semester sophomore year. My question is, how much will the drop in GPA this semester hurt me in internship application considering by the time acceptances go out, they will only have 3 semesters to look at. I have some pretty great EC's otherwise, I'm Just currently freaking out because I've calculated that there is no way for me to end this semester with above a 3.5.

A lot of factors go into getting a summer research internship. While your GPA is a good indicator of your study habits and academic abilities, it doesn't tell the whole story. Do you have prior experience doing research, or demonstrated interest in the healthcare field in general? Like with med school, your GPA is a factor, but it isn't everything. It's understandable for your GPA to drop if you took a number of difficult classes all at once.
