Hi everyone I wanted to ask all of you a quick question. I am a 1st year student quickly approaching summer. I probably won't sign on to do a 10-12 research project this summer because I found something that I was much more interested in doing this summer and is really a once in a lifetime experience. However, I really would like to do some peds research at some point and I fear that this summer may be my only opportunity. I'm not sure but is there time like say second year to hop on a research project? I'm not trying to get paid or anything I just really want to see what its like since I've never done it.
Also do you all have any idea how other schools feel about having a med student come on? I will probably be in my hometown during the summer and there is a big research institution there. I was thinking of e-mailing some of the faculty to see if any of them would let me hang out with them for a little while but I hear there are a lot of regulations to being in a lab and those type of things.
Forgive me I'm not too familar with how research and funding and all those other things work so I just wanted some insight from you all. I'm interested in Peds ID, Allergy and Immunology, and Heme/Onc. Sorry for the long post I just sometimes feel that you all are my only advice givers 😀
