I know I know, we should relax this summer before school starts and have a good time while we can…believe me, I intend on doing that every moment of every day this summer. However as someone who enjoys reading , I thought I’d start a list of books that can be both fun and relevant to our future profession. Here are some of the books I’ve read/am in the process of reading and would recommend

Better: Surgeon's Notes on Performance by Atul Gawande.
Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Sceince by Atul Gawande
The Excruciating Histroy of Dentistry by James Wynbrandt
How Doctor’s Think by Jerome Groopman
A Second Opinion: Rescuing America's Health Care by Arnold Relman

As someone said in a previous post and which I'm reading right now:

The millionaire next door
The millionaire mind

Great books.

I started reading for leisure since graduating in May. Knowing that I'll hardly have time to read in dental school I'm trying to read as much as possible. I'm busy with The Grapes of Wrath now. My to-read list includes:

The Broom of the System, Infinite Jest - David Foster Wallace
Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov
Dune -
Frank Herbert
Suttree -
Cormac McCarthy
The Crying of Lot 49, Inherent Vice -
Thomas Pynchon
The Sirens of Titan -
Kurt Vonnegut
Light in August -
William Faulkner
I, Claudius -
Robert Graves
The Brothers Karamanov -
Fyodor Dostoevsky

Any Dr Suess Book, goosebumps, the bernstein bears, anything to keep my mind on low efficiency.

The Sorrows of Young Werther - Goethe

Classic German literature, the original emo hipster 🙂
