I just stumbled across this info and thought I would share for those who are interested in vet medicine and biomedical research:

http://www.merialscholars.com/programs.html

It's for 1st and 2nd year vet students, during the summer break. Not to get ahead of myself here, but it's good think/plan these things out...

we had ~20 spots here...with about 50 applicants.

Those odds aren't too bad... I applied (and didn't get into 🙁 ) some REU programs with 200-300 applicants for 5-10 spots.

At our school we had 2 deadlines for research applications. The early one was in January to be considered for Merial and Morris Animal Foundation.(we had 3 spots for each) The later one was last week and to be considered for school awards, which they tell us historically they are usually able to fund everyone who wants to do research. Although it seems like we might have had more applicants this year, so only time will tell.

I was selected for Merial funding for the summer. So I will be traveling to Georgia in August to present my research.

david594, that's awesome!

Congrats, that is really cool!👍
I hoping to apply the UMN program next year if things so according to plan

ooh, I forgot one:

the FDA/CVM (paid) summer internship...I wanted to do it this summer, but I decided it would be too much right before vet school started.

Me too! Um, except I had no idea I might have to *present* something while we're in Georgia! :scared:
