Summer Research Programs for M1 Students and Undergraduate Publications

Hi everyone!

I hope you all are ready for the great holiday season and finishing up finals!

I was wondering what are some research programs available for M1 students for this upcoming summer?

Also, do publications that you have during undergraduate count toward your publication count for residency applications? I'm would be surprised if people who apply to competitive residencies have like 5-6 publications during medical school only. I have 3 journal publications and 3 abstracts from undergraduate. Would those count over or do I need to accumulate those 6 publications again during much busier medical school?

I would do something at your school. Try to do the minimal amount and STUDY for Step 1 during the summer. Research is much less important than Step 1 so focus more on studying and less on publishing. You already have more publications than the vast amount of students. Just get a high step score.
