I'm interested in applying to a summer reu after graduating. Does anyone know of any specific ones that accept graduating seniors? I'm having a hard time finding them...NIH SIP is the only one I've found so far. Thanks!

REU = Research Experience for Undergraduates. I've never heard of any REU sites that accept students that have already graduated. There may be one or two REU programs that do (probably ones that also get some non-REU funding), and there are other programs, like the SIP program you mentioned, but on the whole summer programs that admit college graduates are relatively rare. Since you're going to have a Bachelor's degree come summertime, it would probably easier to find a paid job as a research assistant or lab tech in one of the labs at your university.

There's one program that I know called the NCTR Summer Student program that accepts college grads. I think it takes place somewhere in Arkansas.

THEY EXIST! Im in your shoes, just graduated in the winter but I did an REU last year and loved it so much I wanted to try again for this summer. Looking for research opportunities this year was much harder. I did a loooot of digging but here's more or less what I applied to plus several labs which are not listed here..

-Mount Sinai International Exchange Program for Minority Students

-Summer ORISE Fellowship Opportunity at the FDA "(Applicants must be a student in good standing at an accredited U.S. college or university, or accepted as an entering graduate or professional student at an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale).)"
-Science Education Programs at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) <--they have a bunch of positions

-Summer 2016 Marine Mammal Research Internship
Lots of Opportunities with the CDC:
-Project IMHOTEP (CDC opportunity)
-MCHC RISE-UP (CDC opportunity)
-Summer Public Health Scholars Program (SPHSP) (CDC opportunity)
-UCONN Aetna Health Professions Partnership Initiative Summer Research Program
-UNC Medical Education Development (MED) Program
-MHIRT (amazing opportunity, only some branches accept graduated students but do look into it)

-NIH SIP (you already mentioned, keep in mind I believe you have to be accepted somewhere before you can apply to this one. NIH has a couple others too I believe just look up summer opportunities with them on google.)
-Summer Training Academy for Research Success (USAN STARS)

...um thats all I can think of. Im only a few years late with the reply lol, hope this helps someone (not this year since most of the deadlines have passed lol). Keep in mind, if you've graduated, you can always find a position in a lab, wont be as exciting but it would pay and
definitely be a good look for your resume. In my opinion these are a bit more competitive because in most of the cases your up against undergrads and grad students who are probably their ideal candidates, but it definitely never hurts to apply. If anyone finds anything else please add. Gl
