summer scholar program at OUCOM

Anyone heard about the summer scholar program at OUCOM? it's a 6 weeks program and if you do well at the end of the program and applied to oucom.. you're guaranteed an interview.. if anyone been to it and know much about it can you please reply.. thanks a lot

You're guaranteed an interview "if you meet the minimum requirements for admission to OSUCOM." In another section they claim to not actually have minimum requirements but do say that "Competitive applicants typically have at least a 3.4 science GPA and 8s and above on each MCAT subsection." No matter what, you still need to raise your MCAT before you can get in.

How do u know this? did you attend the program yourself or know of anyone that did? I believed it's OUCOM and not OSUCOM. OUCOM is Ohio Univ. College of Osteopath and OSUCOM is oklahoma.. do u know anything else about the program? thanks for replying though..

Yeah i figured you added an extra letter 🙂 anyway I read all of it already wayyyy back when I applied.. but i was just wondering how did you know about the program anda if you know anyone that was in it.. I'm just looking for personal experiences or second hand informations.. I am studying for the the august mcat too.. and approaching it a lot different this time around.. thanks for your help..

I wasn't in the program myself but I know some people who were. It seems like most people, even if they get an interview, end up in the post bacc program. However, when you consider the options, post bacc may not be a bad idea since you are guaranteed to be in the next year if you meet the GPA requirement.

You do stand a good chance of getting in to the medical program because they save spots every year for summer scholars and SURF applicants. It is a great program. If you want to know more, gimme a shout via PM. We really should talk outside of this thing because I don't come here too often.
