Good or bad idea to take a 5 week summer session for gen chem 2? it's like monday - thursday 9am-1pm. lecture then lab.

Anyone do something similar in a 5 week session?

Yes and I can tell you it's not very pleasant. I had a 4 week summer session for Gen Chem 3 (my school uses the quarter system) and Orgo Lec 3 Mon-Fri for 3 hrs. It is really fast paced and the professors move thru the material sooo quickly, it can be challenging. I did the summer school because I just wanted to be done with the chemistry requirement for my degree.

I mean I'm already enrolled but I just feel like my first 5 weeks of summer will be completely dedicated to just chem 2 mon-thurs. Not what I was looking forward to but as a non-trad, I have no choice. I'm trying to finish these pre-reqs as soon as possible.

I hope it's not another ****ty prof like my chem 1 teacher. the guy didn't teach anything, he just went over the ppt slides and expected us to stay on top of the problems without even teaching them. if one were to ask a question, he would freak out and make you look stupid. there was almost no point in going to lecture.

I may be the exception, but I loved summer sessions. Semesters were horribly long, quarters were bearable, and summer sessions were amazing. I loved blazing through the material at a quicker pace and moving onto something new 5 weeks later.

IMO you should go for it.

gen chem is cake. do it

I did this as well, when I took gen chem it was in quarters, and it was NOT fun... It wasn't that it was so much harder than a regular semester, it's that when your friends are up/out doing stuff in the summer, enjoying the nice evenings, going to the beach etc, you're stuck in class ALLLLLLLL day.... I wouldn't recommend it unless you're certain you can pull off the A in the course period... and not be pissed that you missed most of the summer in the process
