i've been checking out suny albany's clinical program, and i have a potential poi match there, and think their program seem really great. however, their funding description is somewhat cryptic: they seem to emphasize that funding needs to be renewed yearly, which makes me uneasy....what if a third year student applies but doesnt get funded?

does anyone have any first hand (or close enough) info about funding at suny albany?

thanks!

I was just wondering the same thing... did you ever find out what their funding is like? I had difficulty even finding contact info for someone I could get in touch with about this exact question...

I'm looking at SUNY-albany as well. Did you find an answer to your question?

Many/Most programs don't "guarantee" funding as a matter of legal liability (in case they have a major problem and lose all of their funding, etc), but they have a history of offering funding each year. Definitely ask about it, but I wouldn't be too concerned.

I'm at UAlbany, but in the counseling psych program. My program also has that same disclaimer on the web site. Ignore it. We're funded.

Hmmm, since you're at ualbany maybe you could answer some questions? 😀

Just 2!
1) On the counseling website it says don't bother contacting any potential POIs, we'll set you up when you get here (basically). I've seen this at other schools, and sometimes it means "doing this may confer a slight advantage" and others really mean "don't bother". Which is it at ualbany? Did you contact any POIs?

2) Did you apply after you undergrad, or after a Masters? I see their website says they accept about half and half... just wondering.

Many thanks in advance!
