To those that interviewed at Suny Buffalo, did everyone receive Dr Lema's letter? I know he said everyone would be told their level of competitiveness but I forgot how many levels he mentioned. I was told I was only "moderately competitive" what does that mean? where do I stand in their rank list, in the middle? how many do they put on their rank list?

Seemed like he said there would be 3 tiers, but I don't remember offhand what they were exactly.

Mine was "ranked competitively". I don't know if moderately competitive would be higher or lower than that. No clue how many they rank.

Dr. Lema is arrogant and thinks way too highly of his program. I know some residents there who are pretty below-average, yet probably had high USMLE scores or something. The guy DOES NOT know how to choose candidates. It's all a game about numbers with him. If he told you you're in the lower two tiers, rank them low because he is ranking you low.

I mean, please, it's basically CANADA!

I still don't undestand why should one rank program low if the program ranks them low. (Does my question make sense? 😕). Can you still rank your fav program high even though they may rank you low?

Your rank list order should be determined SOLELY by your order of preference. Altering it based on where you think your chances are better may only serve to buy you a contract with somewhere you don't like as much - when you very well could have been at your #1 choice.
