SUNY Buffalo and Stony do favor NYS residents, but that trend is changing. I'd say its about a 65/35 split at Buffalo, but i'm not too sure about the exact numbers. I'd say youve got a good shot as an out-of-stater. Just for reference - at my buffalo interview of roughly 12 people, I only remember about 2 being from in-state. Good luck!

While we're on this subject...I grew up in the Adirondacks and went to college in New York. But, I haven't lived there since 1994. Do you guys think that might help me out at all? I am considering practicing in the Adirondacks some day.

Based upon some statistics I saw from a couple of years ago, I'd say the 2/3 in-state and 1/3 out-of-state breakdown is valid. At my interview, out of the 12 people, I think it was about half and half.
If you apply early, you should have as much of a chance as an in-stater. The Buffalo adcom starts looking at applications in mid-August, and you want your application to be in the pile when they first start looking at applications. So be sure to submit your AADSAS application by early July at the LATEST.
