Does Downstate EM's residency have a good reputation among EM residencies in NYC?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sorry...I think I should have asked better questions.
What are the best and worst parts of the program? Where do residents end up afterwards (academia, big hospitals, small hospitals, fellowships)? How competitive is it to get in (do you need AOA, what are step I scores)? How good is the clinical training (I assume pretty good)? What are the popular elective options?
...and, anything else that people want to add would be very helpful.
How does Downstate EM compare to NY Methodist in Park Slope? They both seem to have new EDs and are busy, but I was wondering if anyone with first hand experience at either/both could comment.
Thanks!
-war-zone experience. It is one of two or three level1 trauma center for a state of 3.x million.
Actually, I can think of at least three level 1 trauma centers in Brooklyn alone (Kings Co., Brookdale, and Lutheran) and at least several more throughout NYC and Long Island. Not all of them have EM residencies, though. NYC has a total of 8 million residents so NY state can't be 3.x million.

(i.e. if your mom was shot and you were half way between Kings County and Brookdale, where would you head?).
Thanks!
I was talking about the state of Brooklyn, and yes there are the 3 trauma centers you listed.
