Hi everyone, I just finished taking the DAT a few hours ago. Im so conflicted about my scores. If only I got 1 more question right in some of these sections!

PAT 18
QR 21
RC 19
Bio 19
Chem 19
Orgo 26
TS 21
AA 21

I feel like my orgo score was so high only because I finished orgo the spring semester. My science gpa is 3.5 and my overall is 3.6. I really don't know if I should retake or not because preparing for this exam just once is ridiculously taxing. If you guys think these scores are only good enough for the super expensive schools do say that because thats not something I want to pursue.

Oh and I'm going to be starting my junior year at undergrad in a few days so idk if that changes anything but the idea of studying for the DATs during the semester alongside my classes does intimidate me =\

chill dude... you did great...

Thanks for the feedback guys. What concerns me the most are my Bio and RC scores, and I guess the barely making cutoff PAT score. I've been reading a lot about how dental schools make a huge correlation between those scores and success in dental school. I really just want to get into a decent place, preferably my state school in NJ.

By the end of this fall semester I could probably raise my science gpa by .05 and my overall by .1.

Idk it's just seeing so many people on SDN get 20+ on most of their sections and then looking at my scores, the only reason my average is so high is because of Orgo! Will the fact that the one score pretty much carried the rest of my scores hurt me?

Talked to a couple of ppl and they said my PAT could hurt my chances at out of state schools. That kinda has me worried =\

Well those people don't know what they are talking about. You are golden...you'll get into Rutgers ( I'm guessing that is your state school, because it is mine as well 😀).

Your PAT isn't even bad. I think UoP is a school that wants a high score from that section, but I haven't seen many schools that automatically eliminate bc of an 18

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I'm just one of those types of people that can't help but be anxious lol. So I called Rutgers Dental School..and for last cycle, the science average of accepted students was 20. Not sure how to feel haha

So I talked with an advisor at my school today and she basically told me that my numbers are 'okay, the only reason my numbers seem fine are because of the orgo section. When dental schools analyze your scores it may be a problem.'

UGH 🙁

It is true that schools sometimes weight certain sections more heavily (so a 30 in Math won't mean as much as a 30 in Bio), but your scores are still pretty good so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Extremely similar scores to mine. If it makes you feel any better, i recieved an interview from my top school last week. I think your scores and GPA are competitive enough, if anything work real hard on your EC's and you'll be sure to snag some interviews. Good luck!
