I am so glad that I am done with college entry level material stuff and in the next few days I am going to write an MCAT vs DAT comparison for those that care.

Dang. thats a nice score, congrats!! what materials did you use? and which ones helped the most?

Congrats, awesome scores on both the MCAT and DAT🙂 I know they're fairly different - DAT is more memorization, MCAT is more critical thinking (so I've heard) but would you say the MCAT was much more difficult than the DAT?

Wow!
2 weeks of studying. Nice. I guess you had a good background.
I guess you will post your breakdown soon, and I'm looking forward to it... esp cause I'm pretty much taking the 2 week route as of today, b/c of the personal statement took me too much time...
Please take time to talk about:
1. What did you do in terms of studying, how much material did you do each day for the 2 weeks?
2. How was Bio and RC? how would you suggest preparing for those? for RC were they all science related?

Hope to see your breakdown soon!
Congrats again in your achievement!

I will post more details this weekend but I am just going to answer your questions really quick since it is time sensitive for you.

My average workload: When I am doing just discrete problems I can do over 300 questions a day. When I am just reading I skim a subject a day. For example, took me 1 day to go though AP Biology from Cliffsnotes. I can go though the material really fast because I know 95+% of it to start with and I know exactly where my weakness is. For example...botony, ecology etc that were not on MCAT.

Biology: if you only have two weeks just know the big stuff and know it well. Like cell division, metabolism, genetics, physiology etc. I have taken enough practice tests in both DAT and MCAT to know what concepts are really important in biology and what are just useless information. Dont stress over the small details, you will miss questions that are tiny details on DAT, but if you only have two weeks OC and GC are places where you can better spend your time.

Reading: I did not prepare at all. As you see on my MCAT my reading was much lower than my other section. I was kinda just giving up on it. I did like 1-2 practice reading the day before the test. Not all subjects are biology related, but sometime there are subjects where you already know. For example today's test, for one passage I can answer 80% of the question without reading...but I did just to make sure. For those that are not science they are still pretty easy to understand. Overall I just have to say MCAT reading is soooooo much harder than DAT reading lol.

OP,

2 weeks of study and 24AA? this isn't about your background, you are obviously smarter than most of us. Congrats 👍

Just curious as to why you never went to MD school? an MCAT of 39 is one of those "McDreamy" scores

oh and by the way, I totally agree, MCAT verbal is like 10 times harder than DAT RC.

Thanks for your fast reply 🙂 This is my plan for the 2 weeks:

Bio-- for cell division, metabolism, genetics, physiology etc, I think I know quite a lot about these topics just from my molecular and cellular biology classes.. haha I need to study plants, taxonomy, those things.. :'( I guess I'll read cliffs for this.
GC&OC---I'm trying to nail down the concepts for GC and OC using Chad's videos.. since they are a good review for me. and then I'll prob hit destroyer right away.
PAT---CDP 10 test version all the way. prob do one test a day.
RC---LOL wishing for luck ! scientific articles maybe.. but kinda gave up on this section. I'll try to look for the best method for me when i'm doing the practice tests..
QR---CDM, just took the first test, it doesn't seem too bad. I did finish all 45 questions in time but skipped maybe 2 😛 I dunno how hard the real thing is in comparison to CDM.

Practice tests: Kaplan (Final exam + 3full lengths= 4 tests); TopScore(3 tests)... I'll prob working on these in like 3 days after I get a broad idea on concepts along with the destroyer. what do you think?
I hope I can get 22+.. haha am I aiming too high? Thanks again for your replies. I'll be waiting for your breakdown this weekend.😀

congrats. awesome scores
do you mind telling us what material did you use to study for DAT?
thanks in advance

DAT: Today after 2 weeks of study 7hrs/day

PA 21: Just use CDP it is awesome. When you are doing practice test with Topscore/Archiever, just skip this section and use the CDP test. Topscore/Archiever test are so hard to see and sometime have very bad 3D presentations. On the real test I think I got screwed over because I got too lazy with angle problems, which is always my worst section. All the other sections I can get like a 100 everytime.

QR 25: Do Orgomans's Math and Archiever Math are very good for this one. On the real test the questions are almost just as hard. The biggest thing against you is time. I literally knew how to do every question but just didnt have the time to work every problems.

RC 23: So much easier than MCAT. I got pianoed and it was like easy. Did not prepare for this so not much to say.

BS 24: Awakard is the way I would describe this. They would use terms that are not very commonly used. The science is not very hard but the wording and random area it test is very hard. To adquietly prepare for this you need to do really well in you intro to biology class. I have only taken intro to zoology (animal only), so it was kinda hard for me. DO NOT use Archiever or Orgoman to study for this. They are just tests to see how you do and they do a really poor job at that, because 1. wording is different. 2 level of difficulty is different. I noticed that they would insert random weird facts that would never be tested. I know that while DAT item sometimes seems random/awkward but they are testing some fairly important concept rather than just random facts (95% of the time)

GC 26: Best material to use is Examkraker GC and Examkracker 1001 🙂 Together you get like 1500 questions for probably 30$ if you get used. Nothing else beats it! Archiever and Orgoman are ok for extra practice but archiever will ask really stupid questions. Orgoman is really really expensive.

OC 24: Study with your ochem book they are really good at helping you understanding everything. Orgoman is good practice as well as Examkracker.

If I had more time I know I could have done better on all sections except for reading. Archiever is defiantly the worst thing you can get. The questions on there are way too random/hard and people need to understand that harder does not always mean better (especially for those who are not really trying to get 21+)
