Most schools have these types of questions??

how do you guys go about answering them

1) if you faced any academic challenge and how do you improve/learn from it? what if i haven't really struggled during any quarter of study (by having a low GPA), what should i say???

2) what unique, personal qualities or experiences will you bring to this "___" school of pharmacy? do i go about the personalities that i think i have that will make ma good pharmacist??

thanks

I struggled with USC's essays as well. For #1, I had the same problem as you. No single semester with below a 3.7 gpa. I did, however, go through personal challenges (surgery), which I addressed in my essay. I think the question is aimed to give you a chance to explain a bad quarter/semester, but if you didn't have one, just use your creativity to answer the question. Maybe your transcript doesn't reflect it, but in one semester you had to work harder than usual to get the grades you expect from yourself. Or take a different approach. Perhaps you had a group project with very challenging group dynamics. How did you resolve the situation to end with success?

For #2, I talked about a not-entirely-unique aspect of my background. Since I've spent a few years out of school and in the workforce, I talked about how I could bring my insight an experience in the business world to the Class of 2010. It doesn't have to be an essay about how you are ___, ___, and ___ (insert appropriate adjectives), it can be a chance to talk about your unique experiences and relate them to the field of pharmacy.

Hope that helps!
