supplemental application

Hi all,

I've been reading this optometry forum for about a year now, but this is my first post! I'm applying for this application cycle and had a question about the supplemental application (I tried using the search function, but didn't find any threads that exactly answered my question). How do you actually access the supplemental application (for SUNY in particular)? Is it something different than the "additional information" portion of the OptomCAS application under school designations? OptomCAS gives a link to pay for SUNY's supplemental application, but there is no link to the application itself.

If you're paying for the supp. app on OptomCAS, then that's probably it. The questions are the additional questions that you would have answered. If you're unsure (and in the case of other schools who don't do their supplemental through OptomCAS), you should go to the school's website and search for info on the supplemental. OptomCAS will NOT give you any reminders or notices that you need to go complete a supplemental on the school's webpage, so you'll have to go looking for it yourself. GL!

SUNY does have an actual supplemental app you have to fill out aside from the payment portion. There are (or last year at least there were) just a few questions about your leadership experience and volunteer work. They send out an email with a link to fill it out. You might want to call them though and make sure they send it to you. They had some problems last year with emails and communication.

It's the only one I can find but I'm a little wary to submit the payment as pretty much every other link on this site is out of date/dead.

Yes, that's the same link I found. I haven't submitted any payment yet because I was also unsure. I will have to contact SUNY at some point. Let me know if you find out anything about it.

I just e-mailed them. https://www.sunyopt.edu/application/payment.php is the correct place to pay it.

I probably misunderstood this earlier on, but now from what I'm seeing in this thread we need to submit the OPTOMCAS application, and also the optometry school's (ie SUNY) supplemental application and fee as well? The school does not look at our OPTOMCAS application and decide whether we submit this fee for them to review our supplemental app?

SokClari - I also received a response from SUNY. Glad to know that is the correct link.

For those of you who may be wondering... I also confirmed that SUNY's supplemental application is actually built right into the OptomCAS application. So, all you need to do is pay the $40 for the supplemental application after you submit the common app.

Chocol8 - Not sure about the other schools, but this is how it works for SUNY. Good luck.

mparm - You can find the link on the OptomCAS website under Directory of Schools and Colleges. Just click on SUNY.
