Some of the apps say limit x characters. Do you usually write in near that limit or just whatever as long as you have said what you have wanted to say?
Ex. Limit 4000 characters. Can I just write 1000 characters worth or do they prefer a longer response?

Also, about the "quality" of the answers. Not sure how else to ask this. I've been stuck on a couple of essays for almost two weeks. I have all my thoughts down, but do I need it to present it like my personal statement? I read people on here sending in their secondary apps within a few days, but those could be apps that don't ask for longer responses. I would like to send in as soon as possible because the schools have received my app, but I don't want to have poor responses.

I agree with the whole quality thing over quantity. I'm not going to try to meet the 6000 character limits of some sup apps.. and I'm guessing if you say what you need to say the adcom will be happy you don't either. That's just my opinion on the matter..

Ah ok. Personal statements are so important, I was wondering if they view these responses on the same level as ps.

For some apps like Boston, the limit is strict. For Western, they say "about one page of comments" but there is no official limit on the web page.

why be skimpy? why not write the best that you can? would you rather finish all the supplementals and paperwork a couple days earlier or not get into dental school at all? why leave this kind of stuff up to chance when you have the ability to do it well? just my opinion

Thanks for everyone's response.

I'm not trying to skimpy or anything. I'm just saying I feel like I wrote what I need to say, but it didn't go near the limit. That example was just an example. It's what dskies said. 6000 chars, but I only wrote around half. Not sure what else to put down.

Like I said, I do want to send it in asap, but I'm not sure about the length and level of quality. If it should be like that of a personal statement, then it'll take me longer. I'm not sure about other people, but it took me quite awhile to write a ps.
