So, I noticed some of the websites state that they want special supplemental forms from your letter writers. As no one in the ortho residency admission process can be under the illusion that we're not applying to a good number of programs...do we honestly need to get them from our letter writers? Anyone know if it matters or not?

If they ask for it, assume it matters. Many programs want to be sure you are actually looking at their program (web page etc...) and following their rules. They want applicants that are not just blanketing the country with applications. Does it suck? Yes. Is it an extra burden on your letter writers? Yes. Is it the game you have to play to get into ortho? Yes.
