surgeon faces drug charges

Taking 20 adderall a day is a bit extreme, good god. Hopefully this guy didnt mess up at all the previous 5+ years otherwise he's toast (but really, why do this)

“Villarreal also told me that he had performed orthopedic surgeries while under the influence of pharmaceuticals he was not prescribed,” Prough wrote.

This is an important part of the article. Yeah this guy abused medication, but by no means is it illegal to take medication that is prescribed to you.

But seriously... 20 adderall... wtf?

Either the guy was high as hell at that point and or had some razor sharp attention span.

This guy's pretty ripped...

Not the brightest crayon in the box though.

From July 2009 to this June, he wrote himself 55 prescriptions for the painkillers Percocet and Vicodin as well as Adderall by forging the name of a doctor he completed his residency with who now works in Saranac, N.Y., an affidavit by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Todd F. Prough shows.

Villarreal holds an active medical license that will be reviewed by the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline, said Health Department spokeswoman Annemarie Beardsworth.

I guess we'll see if villarreal survives this.

But... I thought the ridiculous admissions process weeds out all these people leaving only those candidates mature enough to practice medicine.

Also, this lends some credibility to the physician stereotype that orthos are jocks.

Hope he at least split some coke w/ his patients before he operated on them.
