I'm interested in finding out more about locum work as a general surgeon. I'd be interested in knowing:
1.Is it difficult to find locum work as a board-certified/eligible general surgeon after residency (i.e. can you do only locum work and still make a decent living)?
2.Are you still responsible for postop care of the patient if you are the locum surgeon? If so, for how long?
I've become interested in this recently because it seems like a very flexible option in that you are not tied down to a single private practice or academic institution with set hours and all of it's internal politics. You do your job, get paid, and move on. And you can be flexible with how long you take between jobs. But I've only began researching this recently so if someone knows about it (both the pros and cons) please share.
