Surgeon good path from surgical tech?

If I become a Surgical tech, is that a good path to becoming a Surgeon?
If so, how do I do so? If not, what is the best path to becoming a Surgeon?

That is true. I guess my question is though, is it good to be a surgical tech on the path to becoming a surgeon? Lets say Im working as a surgical tech and going to school to become a surgeon. Is that a bonus or worthless? How much worth is a surgical tech? Should I even consider working as a surgical tech while attending medical school or should I focus only on my medical school in becoming a surgeon? Is working as a surgical tech worthless, or benefitting me in the process?
