Does anyone who took the surgery shelf remember how well they were doing with A&L Qs before the exam. I am getting anywhere from 60-80% and I don't know what that means.

A&L is quite hard, actually. I think it's a good approximation of the shelf though, even if a bit tougher. If you're near an 80%, you're headed for an outstanding performance on the surgery shelf. I would just warn you as a head's up, that one way people can get hosed on their first shelf is getting surprised by the length of the question stems, which are quite a bit longer than Step 1, and running out of time without finishing.
