Anyone else who's doing the surgery clerkship this winter wonder what happened to the sun? I mean I haven't been outside with the sun shining since I began last week. Could someone just let me know if we still have a sun. Up here in the Northeast it's been so cold I wouldn't doubt it if someone said that God is pissed at Michael Jackson and turned off the sun!

Only 11 more weeks...

yuck. I had to do surgery during the wintertime too. Those scrub pants offer no protection against the cold. If you aren't interested in surgery, you should definitely use any downtime between surgeries to do things like going to the library to read instead of following around residents as they round. People like to complain about medicine rounds, but surgery rounds were definitely the most painful for me. Every day, "did you pass any gas", making sure tubes were still suctioning out junk, and dressing changes before the team got to the patient. Surgery patients smell bad too. I'm so glad that I never have to set foot in an OR again.

I'm right there with you. It's going to be a painful 3 months. The only thing that is going to keep me sane is the spring break I'm planning.

I'm also there with you doing surgery in the winter, in the Northeast, with paper-thin scrub pants. I got to see the sun over my two-week Christmas break (which fell in the middle of the rotation) but that's about it! I'm done with surgery on Friday, so maybe soon I will get to see the sun on a regular basis!

Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one turning a nice shade of pasty white.

Today was a lovely day helping a fat woman lose weight the quick way. 1-2L sucked from her thighs and hips, and then a nice little abdomenoplasty to go with.
