What are some good surgery societies/journals to subscribe too? Just looking for a society to add to my resume and to have some uptodate email newsletter that I get occasionally to stay updated on the field.

Then go with ACS. And update your profile from "med student accepted"

ACS is the best society to join as a med student (facs.org), and should give you access to J Am Coll Surg and the associated bulletin/newsletter.

Outside of that, you could consider joining the AAS (aasurg.org) which gives you access to J Surg Research.

In general, student memberships are very cheap/affordable.
