I am an IMG doing a Sub-I in Surgery to get US experience. I am not planning on applying to a surgical residency. I was offered this rotation at random and I need all the experience I can get.
Which of these departments do you think is the best for me?

General+Vascular Surg
Surgical Oncology+Colorectal Surg
Thoracic+Minimally Invasive Surg+Foregut Surg

In general, how long are the surgeries in each field? Do their schedules tend to vary a lot?
Which surgeries have the most radiation exposure (I know vascular has)?
Is there one that is more similar to IM?

How should I prepare? Should I review anatomy?

Will there be a problem if I tell them that I want to go into IM?

Can I use LORs from surgery if I apply to IM? Does it matter which department I choose or are all LORs considered equal?
How to you get a good LOR during a Surgery Sub-I?

That's a ridiculous question. Any of those choices could be good, but without knowing about the particulars, we can't answer that.

More importantly, if you're planning on going into IM, why put yourself through extra surgical rotations? That's just unnecessary torture.
