What is a good reference for studying surgically-relevant anatomy? NMS and Recall don't seem to have nearly enough pics. What I would really like is a website with surgery photos and anatomy quizzes (like being pimped in the OR).

Surgery recall for pimp questions. It has some anatomy in it as well, but no pics, just a few diagrams.

The resident room (at least at my hospital) has a ton of old surgery books lying around (REAL surgery texts, not med student crap). They will detail all you'd ever want to know about specific procedures. Approaches, common complications and their rates, landmarks, etc etc. You can read up on a procedure in 15-20 minutes tops, and you'll be a genius in the OR. Just spend a few minutes there before you hit the OR, or at least the night before.

Don't waste your time looking at Netter or any of that stuff. You'll go crazy and just waste your time.

Good, I WAS going crazy looking at Netter! Thank god! Is there a landmark website for before the rotation? I need to do well...

I don't know of one. Just read up on the cases you know you'll be doing. The surgery texts will have all of the drawings you'll need to understand what's going on.

There should be a schedule somewhere that will let you know what cases are scheduled for the next day. Or just ask the resident. They're usually glad to help if they have a bit of free time, or at least be able to point you in the right direction. When you look good, they look good.
