Skills said:what is the surgical personality within the subspecialities compared to gen med people?
e.g. orthopaedics - aggressive, competitive alpha males in a boys club who like to fix things and disregard most non-orthopaedic related knowledge
Kimberli Cox said:Well said, dry dre. While stereotypes do exist for a reason, I can find as many exceptions to the "rules" as I can stereotypes (ie, the feminine female Ortho resident; the mellow, non-aggressive trauma surgeon; the unpleasant pediatric surgeon who seems to dislike children).

Dupree said:A lot of them are insecure beneath the facade (like most doctors in general) and are in it to compensate and make themselves feel important. That said, there are also some really cool dudes and gals in surgery.

Skills said:Yeah I was looking for stereotypes on purpose. Wanted a generalized trend thing to see where the most "like minded" people were - as faulty a logic as that may be in choosing a career path.
Keep the 'types rollin though
Whats the cardiothoracic stereotype vs cardiology?
Skills said:Well I would offer that those respective doctors probably wouldn't have the time to go pissfarting around and would instead demand answers from everyone else
