surgical specialties + physician scientist

I was wondering if any of you future md phds are interested in some of the more procedural specialties (ie the various surgical specialties)?

Anyone know of how feasible such a track is (I'm talking future career wise; obviously mdphd graduates can compete/apply for surgical residency)? I've heard conficting things...particular, ive heard certain surgical specialties are not good at all for research such as neurosurg/ortho (let alone any surgical specialty)?
