my current GF has her mind on PA and surgery..she is a petite gal 5' 100#....for ortho, or others, is there a lot of strength involved on the PA part?
what about assisting a much taller surgeon, should she really start strength training her calves if she is going to have to stand on her tip toes for surgeries 🙂. or will she just have to find a shorter surgeon to work with?

what exactly is the PAs role in the average say TKA or CABG or spinal fusion?

also do PAs have a role in pathology or radiology?

any info/input is appreciated.

Why couldn't she just stand on a stool?

she would use a standing stool. keep in mind that many surgeons are short, so that probably won't be an issue anyway.

well damn that just makes too much sense....im a sucker for nice calves so i think ill tell her to plan on standing on her tip toes for hours on end 🙂

I worked with two vets during a lung lobectomy in which there was a substantial size difference. We pilled up blankets on the floor for the smaller doc to stand on. It was amusing.
