hi all,
so i've suffered through intern year and now a pgy-2 in my supposed field of choice only to find i'm still miserable....i mean ya it's an upgrade, but still i think i'm realizing more and more clinical hospital based medicine just isn't for me. i want to switch or apply for preventive med for July 2010. how do i go about doing this? do i tell my program director now? i plan to finish out the year because 1) i need a job 2) i don't want to screw my co-residents.
am i going to need a letter of recommendation from my current program director? if so, i'm going to have to tell him soon because application deadlines are in december of this year. i thought that i was just getting used to my field and getting used to starting over again. i don't think this is the case though because i do enjoy certain aspects of my field but i just can't see myself doing it day in and day out in the long term.
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!
