Anyone else heard anything about the rumors flying around that neurology is finally going to make the switch from early to regular match?????
A program director verified that a polling of the Neuro program directors across the country was done. Supposedly the large majority favored the switch!
😀

Anyone know if and when the switch should happen???

Hmmm... how would that change applying for a prelim year?

I think it is supposed to be switched for next year's round.
Has pros and cons, I guess.

Finally! Only wish they had come to their sense a few years ago... Hopefully this will encourage more medical students time to explore neurology electives and choose the field in the end, help couples in different specialties match in the same location without trying to make illegal under-the-table deals, and allow students to get all the benefits that medical schools typically provide for the late match.

One potential draw-back, however, is the prelim-year. Now applicants will have to truly explore every prelim option, instead of being able to drop those prelim interviews that were conveniently scheduled at the end of January and the beginning of February 🙄

I would like to also see more neurology programs offer gauranteed prelim years at home or sister institutions.

Where can i go to confirm this info... if this is true this will make my life sooo much easier.

Agreed. Although a good number of programs already have this option for its residents.

GopherBrain was right about what he said much earlier in the season, however. It was sweet to relax while every one was all freaked out this past week.
Although, no one understood my pain back in January. 🙄
