Switchin undergraduate schools

I currently go to University of California, Riverside, as a sophomore. Due to financial reasons, I've been thinking about switching to Cal State San Bernardino. Would this affect my "competitiveness" of my application?

I would suggest that you explain the reasoning behind switching schools in your personal statement or your supplemental apps, so that they would factor that into consideration. They won't know until you explain it

That is what I was thinking too. I've been emailing schools and asking them, but because of winter break, I wont be getting responses anytime soon.
