Well, I had to scramble for ob like so many other surprised future ob/gyn docs this year. After looking at the bleak selection of positions - North carolina and 2 prelims in CA - I decided to accept a PGY1 categorical IM position at my school. I've accepted the possiblilty of being an internist. But i know in my heart i want to do ob. I'm going to try to keep my mind open next year but i'm sure that I'm going to want to rematch into OB. How do programs feel about residents leaving their program after the first year? And whats the chances of getting into a residency that you already interviewed at but didnt match?
