Keep trying and work harder! I found that 3rd year (or p1) was annoying as it dealt a lot with pharmaceutical calculation and remembering stupid ammino acids. Your next year will be harder, but the material will start to differentiate. Once you hit your rotations, your gpa (at least for most ppl) will get a good boost allowing you to pass pharmacy school!

humm.. if he doesn't do that well then he's might be at risk of suspension or even get kicked out.. but seriously, i'd definitely try harder and focus on your main classes

2.8 isn't that bad. Its not like you are failing, or close to failing, multiple classes. You made it past pre-pharm which is a big challenge for the majority of people...

My opinion, you should keep push your self and working harder.
To get a BS in univerisity is not that easy either because undergrad is very competitive. You have to work hard to get a good grade. Why don't you work harder a litte and try to boost the GPA up and eventually you get the PharmD with good job.
If you transfer to univerisity and plan to get a BS and you are not work hard enough, you might graduate with a 2.8 GPA, no one is going to hire you.

Hey everyone,
Im a 3rd year student (1st professional) in a 6 year PharmD program. My performance so far this semester has been pretty lukewarm.... i estimate my gpa will probably be 2.8 if Im lucky. Despite all of my hard work, I just don't seem to be performing well on exams like my peers.

Of course this has cast some serious doubts in my mind about completing pharmacy school. I always have the option of opting out of the PharmD program and getting my BS in pharmaceutical sciences.... but Im curious as to your opinions about what I could do with this degree or if I should just keep plugging along, trying to pass. Thanks guys

If you switch to Pharm Science, you might as well considering for a PhD in pharm science, which is extremely difficult in my opinion. Switching or changing majors is a big decision. You just need to be devoted into the stuff you're learning. Keep in mind that a lot of times GPA are irrelevant to actual practice.

what is your school's PharmD program min required GPA? Try harder. P1 courses mainly require good memory. P2 require both good memory and analytical skill. P3 must have good analytical skill, common sense, and good judgment, which is to say good memory doesn't really help much. P4 is you're on your own.

a friend of mine can't even earn that min required GPA in order to stay in the program during her P2, but she tried talking to her professors, academic advisors, and the dean of pharmacy. the result is that she has been given 2 chances, not 1 but 2, and right now is completing her P4.

you shouldn't give up, try to see your limits.

one more thing: who cares what your GPA is. once you graduate, all you need to show to your interviewers is your license.

Even for majors which college GPA might play a role in getting a job, after a couple years of working they don't care about that. It's experience and recommendations which become the key players in getting a job.

don't worry so much about GPA. just don't flunk out, and remember that the most important test is the board exam!

What ever happened to C = PharmD?????? I'll say 2.8 is damn good, at least for my modest standard. Unless you want to go for residency later on, GPA wont matter after you graduate.

that depends doctorpharm. If a C = 2.3, and he is only in his first year professional. . . a 2.8 doesnt give him much of a buffer for the next 3 years.
