Wouldn't that mean you'd be doing a 4 year major (communications) in 2 years? It might be relaxing over 4 years, but probably not over 2.

Typically at liberal arts schools the major component can be completed in 2 yrs or even less. The rest consists of electives and general education.

I wouldn't do that if you're premed. Med schools will see it the exactly the same way: you wanted to skate through your last two years, ie it wasn't worth the effort to you to go through with chem.

And therefore you won't think it's worth the effort to work 5 times as hard in med school.

And therefore it's not worth the effort to admit you.

Capiche?

Naw...I switched from Math to English (because math was boring as hell, not because math was too hard) after 2 years, and it ended up being great fodder for interview conversation. No one thought I was skating or giving up or anything.

I'm not sure this is serious but...

Why not just switch into something you are interested in? As long as you have a genuine interest it shouldn't hurt your chances. There are a ton of other majors I would love to pick up given unlimited time and resources, I wouldn't just pick one because I thought it was easy.

I would be surprised if even one adcom cared. I switched to a much easier major and it never even came up (I didn't do it because it was easier - back then I didn't know I'd be applying to med school). In fact, my new major was not common among pre-meds so it helped quite a bit in interviews.

How would they possibly know that you switched your major unless they REALLY read into your transcript (not an accurate measure). All my transcript says is the major/minor I chose in the end. Looking through my actual record it wouldn't be clear what I majored/minored in. OP can also spin the communications major to demonstrate the development of some skill that is useful to his or her future as a physician.....clearly I have no idea what a communications major is, but I hope you get my point.
