Switching to OB/GYN

I am a PGY-1 in EM and recently had the revelation that I have to do Ob/Gyn. Has anyone switched from another specialty to OB/GYN? And does anyone know the etiquette for letting your PD know about your plans, i.e. before starting to aqpply for residency vs. after you are fairly sure you already have something firm set-up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

Sorry, I dont exactly have the information you're looking for, but I do know of 2 fam med and medicine residents who switched into OB/GYN after their internships and both got spots in large academic programs so I know it is possible.

It's the CREOG's clearing house, which lists residency programs that have PGY1-4 positions available.
