My sister in law is contemplating going from walgreens rxm to the work at home remote verification. Does anyone have any idea what the working conditions are like working at home for walgreens? If it's some crazy metrics I think she's better off just being at the store as manager. Any thoughts appreciated.

Do a search, I remember this being talked about before, and someone who's wife worked remote (pretty sure it was Walgreens) had posted about it. From what I remember, it was a substantial pay cut, very strict metrics that must be met or the person would be fire, and the breaks are computerized (ie the person works until the computer tells them it's break-time.) I also think someone had said there is a video camera on the person (but that might have been another chain, I don't remember for sure.) Still, there is the big plus of getting to work from home, no driving time, and no dealing with problems or other people. These jobs are pretty hard to come by, if you SIL can get one, you will probably want to grab it (it's far easier to get a job as a manager, than in remote verifying.)

i'd kill myself if all i did all day was just verifying scripts

I knew a pharmacist who did remote verification for Walgreens. She hated it, said the time pressure was insane. FWIW, I found her to be very lazy in general though so take it with a grain of salt.

I hate being at home so this job would be not good for me to say the least. :/

Yeah I have this job. But actually I took 6 weeks off (partially unpaid) to go on a Summer vacation right now, which is one significant advantage of this position. Do a search or just click on the similar threads at the bottom of this page.

All you do is verify scripts all day. No video camera. No customer or doctor contact. No BS. Pretty much a job for introverts. If you don't think you'll like this, don't apply.

Pros:
Two 15 min breaks, one 30 min lunch guaranteed. Can work in pajamas with Netflix or npr as a background noise. Set schedule. Some possibility of ot. When your shift is over--it is really over. No bs work after your shift.

Cons:
Being thrown 3 different ques--pt/prescriber, dur, data verification. Diff ques have their own "speed" guidelines, the faster you are, the better. You are being ranked on speed and amount of mistakes you make. The job is very monotonous, you need to constantly make sure you are fully awake and attentive. The schedules are being chosen based on your ranking. The higher ranked you are, the better schedule you can pick.

Another con: a couple of years ago, there were some layoffs. Some rphs, who were laid off, had many years with the company. Some were rehired this year, but from what I understand, they lost their seniority.

P.S. I do not work for wag.
