Anyone heard of this?

Have a 35 yo healthy female who, a few months ago, had her first microneedling treatment and about 8 hours later developed chills, vomiting, near syncope. She chalked it up to a coincidental virus but the same thing occurred after her second microneedling session today. No fevers. No urticaria or significant skin findings other than than the expected inflammation post micro needling. And no respiratory involvement.

Seems like some sort of a histamine release, but can’t find anything in the literature about this.

I found this, but it sounds a bit different:

I like your thought of histamine release. It might not hurt to do a baseline tryptase and/or histamine and check again s/p procedure (if she undergoes another). If elevated, then you could consider pre-treating with Benadryl or 2nd gen antihistamine maybe.
