Along with a 3.85 GPA, volunteering, experience in hospitals, research experience, leadership experience/extracurricular activities, and a decent MCAT score, will knowing someone on the board of trustees at a medical school tip the balance and get you in? Please bear in mind I haven't taken my MCATS yet, but I am preparing for them.

If you were competitive for the school, you wouldn't need any intervention. If this is a private school, and you were mildly subpar and such a person called a dean to ask that you be interviewed, you might be offered a courtesy interview, but from what we've seen on this forum, that doesn't seem to make it more likely you'd get an acceptance.
